It is interesting that so many people today are suddenly looking to learn more about economics. It's as if they forgot everything they learned in college, and they were not paying attention in high school when the subject was introduced. Even folks who claim to understand the economy, stock market, business cycles, money, interest, trade, production, raw materials, labor, Wall Street, and corporate America often need to go back and review some of their economic knowledge.
If you are one that is totally baffled by this current recession and the global economic meltdown that brought us to where we are now, as it threatens our recovery then perhaps you too need to do a review of your working knowledge of economics. If this is the case then I'd like to recommend a very good book to you, and one that I have on my own bookshelf, and often page through, just to check myself and make sure I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the economy. The name of the book is;
The very best part of this book is that you do not have to know a thing about economics to utilize it, and it's very easy to read with a nice format. Anyone can become knowledgeable about economic matters by studying this text at their own pace. And even if you are well-versed in the topic, it will help you better explain things to those who are not.
If you happen to be a student in college and you are struggling with this subject, this is by far the best book to own to assist you in grasping the concept of micro and macro economics and the inter-related issues that move markets, trade, labor, and make the free-market system work. Please consider all this.

Every Great Author Or Writer Needs a Good Book of Quotations
If you are a writer, I seriously cannot think of a better or smart reference book to own, besides maybe a dictionary, than a comprehensive book of quotes. Indeed, as a writer, I have my favorite one right here. The name of this reference device is:
"The Harper Book of Quotations - Third Edition" by Robert I. Fitzhenry, editor, Quill Publishing a Division of HarperCollins Publishers, New York, NY, 1993, (528 pp), ISBN: 0-06-271566-6.
This quotation reference book is a trusty friend to me, and it helps me get out of a jam often enough, when I am looking for that perfect quote while writing an eBook or another one of my online articles. Not sure how I'd get along without it, and really I am still wondering how you are?
The Table of content is excellent and set up by category and subject. The index is also very easy to use, and you can look up quotes by author as well. Perhaps one of the most important books a writer could have as a reference.
Every author needs tools of the trade such as a Thesaurus, Dictionary, Almanac, Grammar Book, and yes, a great book on quotes. I have five of them but this is by far the best quotational book I've ever seen, owned, or used. I simply wouldn't have a writer's lair without it, nor should you.
Also it is the prefect size for all your writing needs and very easy to flip through, navigate, and find what you are looking for literally in seconds. Indeed, I hope you will pick up a copy and use it to write great stuff. I understand there are two later versions available, but I sure like this one. Please consider all this.

Legal Aspects of Managing Technology Textbook Review
Legal Aspects of Managing Technology written by Lee Burgunder is a fairly good textbook geared towards a college classroom. Unlike many other textbooks, it actually addresses legal cases that students are interested in. Therefore, this book is recommended by the author to be taught in an IT related business law class.
This textbook covers cases such as Napster, Grokster, and Live 2 Crew which are extremely applicable to this time period's college students who grew up with these issues. In addition, it thoroughly covers issues that will need to be understood when the average college student reaches the business world such as sarbanes oxley.
The read itself is rather complex, but is still understandable by the average English speaking person. Expect international students to have a bit more issues especially when reading some of the cases and new terminology that the average person may not be familiar with. However, it is still not an ultra difficult read for an average college student which can be a real deterrent to reading some of the other business law textbooks out there. If you are a student, expect this textbook to be a semi-difficult read, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The examples they give in this textbook are incredibly interesting. They even talk about Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory CD which most college students will be able to relate to as this is modern music that they probably hear in high school or college. The author tries incredibly hard to relate to the students which makes this a very worth while read.
Overall, Legal Aspects of Managing Technology is highly recommended over your average business law textbook. You will find students getting much more involved and interested in the cases because of how modern and technology based the examples are. As of 2009, this textbook is still very applicable to both professors and students.

Writing-World's Guide To Paying Markets For Fiction and Poetry - Book Review
Writing-World.com's Guide to Paying Markets for Fiction and Poetry by Moira Allen, is more than just a book of data for writer's submissions. The author includes only paying markets of periodicals (E-zines, magazines and a few newspapers). The author created a highly valuable section entitled "About this Guide", that explains what each section of details listed under the publications means. She even goes as far as describing the various rights that are often required by periodicals. I learned within the first 17 pages that I had been addressing envelopes incorrectly for international shipping by placing the country in mostly small caps beside the state or province. And what a surprise that was for me - I had no idea there was a protocol for shipping out-of-country! This important chapter also discusses common issues and problems with email and online submissions. Moira's discussion on literary magazines was also very informative and interesting.
Listing markets for short stories, poetry, fiction, fantasy, horror, Christian, adult and many other genres from romance to mystery - this book is sure to help authors market their books and freelance writers sell their articles. Author Moira Allen, goes a step farther and sub-groups markets into smaller categories, such as Children/Christian and Flash Fiction, to make the selection easier for writers.
Reference books like these tend to be dry and boring to read, but Moira's book is written personably - which is difficult to do when listing data. Each listing has numerous helpful tips and information including what kind of material the publication accepts submission for, what the publication's pay rate starts at, what rights are requested and contact information (including emails and website URLs).
This book has definitely found a spot on my writer's reference shelf in my office!

You Should Read the Dictionary - I Know it Sounds Crazy, But You Will Be Glad You Did
Who on Earth would bother to read the dictionary? Well, you are reading an article about someone who did and has read several dictionaries from cover to cover, and I must say has learned a lot along the way. And just in case you think I am crazy, did you know Bill Gates read the entire encyclopedia? Do you think Bill Gates is crazy? What is it that people who read reference books gain? Hmm, well, I think you ought to find out that answer to that yourself.
In fact, I am going to recommend that you read the dictionary, no, not the unabridged Oxford version that is one foot square and ten inches high, yes, I have one of those. It does have just about every word you'll ever read except for the create-a-word blogging bandits vocabulary. Rather, I am going to recommend that you read a smaller version with adequate print. My choice is the;
"Webster's Dictionary" with over 50,000 entries for home, school and office. Edited by John Gage Allee, Ph.D. 1978.
Why do I recommend an older version? Well it does not have all the new buzz words or recent words that you already know, so you are do not have any silly distractions. It's only 446 pages and that is not much bigger than a long novel. Yes the print is smaller than a novel, so maybe its equivalent to a 892 page book, but you can handle that, you are a grown up now. And even if you read only one letter per day you will finish in a month without breaking a sweat and your mind will have more time to soak it up too. Go for it.

Understanding Surgery By Doctor Joel Berman Presents Medical Info for Families!
I highly recommend Dr. Joel Berman's Understanding Surgery for your home medical reference bookshelf! I was pleased to be asked to review the 2008 second printing of this major effort, and found that, just as the title says, it is A Comprehensive Guide for Every Family!
One thing I want to quickly point out. Although this book is geared toward Surgery; i.e., Dr. Berman provides complete information that is needed as you are considering surgery, I found that the book is so well presented and written, that it is easily also a wonderful overall medical reference manual. For instance, if you have something that is bothering you in your chest, there is an extensive index that can be used to find different issues to review. Also, since there is no way to totally eliminate the use of hard-to-understand medical terms, Dr. Berman has included an extensive glossary that is written in easily understandable words.
I admit that I'm one of those individuals who is afraid to hear "the bad news" because I find it hard to understand and thus fear interactions with doctors and potential surgeons. However, right from the start of the book, Dr. Berman has taken the time to make readers feel more comfortable--he has written silly, funny, and sometimes outrageous limericks to start each conversation. Then he moves very professionally into describing exactly what is involved and what the patient and family needs to know as they explore the option for surgery.
The manual is divided into two parts. The second part includes a single chapter on anything and everything that may be operable (and even a little about what is not). Dr. Berman moves from his own "general surgery" area, which includes such things as gall bladder, appendix, and transplants. Then he moves into areas for which specialists are normally sought, moving through various parts of the body from head to feet, (including plastic surgery) describing what may be problems, and then what can and would be done through surgery. Each narrative includes detailed diagrams of the affected body area, clearly marked for use in understanding the actual process.
While Part II will be the more important part of this reference manual on an ongoing basis, I found Part I to be very informative. Oftentimes, professionals, especially specialists, are brought in to handle a specific task, or surgery. While we, the patients are grateful, we have no idea what has actually taken place!
Dr. Berman, in Part I, has taken care of this problem! He begins with a brief history of surgery, education of the surgeon and then specialties that have been developed. He talks about the details that we, the patients, wouldn't immediately think about if we were in pain, but that would be very important to us, if we weren't seeing the individual for an immediate medical reason. The book includes what questions to explore with the surgeon(s).
Part I takes us into the surgeon's office, into the operating room and/or an outpatient surgical center, as well as the emergency room. He ensures that we need to talk to our surgeon, consider second opinions, credentials, and qualifications of the individuals involved. Then the issues of postoperative care, complications, infections and antibiotics are covered.
The potential use of lasers or laparoscopy (a method of operating which uses only a few small openings into the abdomen) are, first, explained, and then reviewed as options. The importance of rehabilitation is covered thoroughly. Then more detailed information on problem areas, such as hemorrhage, the issue of diabetes and surgery and problems with wound healing, as well as the importance of anesthesia and the professional in that area are discussed.
In fact, as I reviewed the book, I could not think of anything that I could want to know that was not at least mentioned by Dr. Berman. And, if more information was suggested, then he also provided references, including his first book, Comprehensive Breast Care.
Unfortunately we oftentimes do not think about valuable health-care information until it is too late to spend time reading and learning what we want to know. For this reason, I consider this a must-read/home library requirement! Spend some time right now and prepare for responding to life-threatening issues!

- Some have given the testimonials showing how this handbook helps them very much. His father's heart fails due to function such that the doctors let him to breathe through oxygen tank to keep the heart from fibulation. However after doing such exercises, his condition becomes better till oxygen isn't needed anymore.
Living with COPD might be overwhelming and very exhausting. Patients and their caretakers might continuously live in fear running out of air, their abilities dwindle prematurely, and they struggle in fragility.
